cable that connects usbc male connector to LEDs size is exaggerated to make clear what im saying

usbc female port

i know this is out of spec for usbc. it is bad and i should not do it and i am sorry, but i do not need my cables to be able to switch orientation so it shouldn’t be a problem? i think?

leads out to some power source, cable is long to illustrate that it has slack.

idea is - spring stores energy when i slot the thing in, so when I press on the thing later to open it back up, spring reaches a point where the energy can be released and then it springs forward, opening my drawer.

in this design, i take the port with it, because i dont think i can spring forward something that is actually connected to a usbc port at the time. i dont need the spring to move it a ton, i just need it to move the whole system enough that i can get my fingers into the cubby, so i can pull the cubby fully open, disconnecting it from the usbc port.

there is a blocker to stop the usbc port from coming out with the rest of the cubby. it can only go as far as the spring lets it.

this is a card catalog:

pogo pin female connector

that is a nice part of using a push push mechanism it locks down until you press in on it

so from the side

yes each one is 8in by 8in or maybe like 5in by 5in idk it doesnt matter too much because i can just print more they could also vary in size and it would not matter as all the connectors would be the same

a drawer then can slot in there

i dont have to design the whole enclosure now i dont have to know how big it will be it will scale as much as i want as i slot more connectors on so i can start with 3 drawers and then expand up to 400 and it does not particularly matter
