Experience can be unpaid stuff, just stuff you have done.
include a result with each item on your resume if you can
pay the bills jobs - why would a computer science employer care about the work you did there?
including programming languages in your projects section not just keywords at bottom
personal projects > course projects once you get good ones ( which i have always had )
do include a technical skills section
do: be consistent make sure your resume is well organized and easy to read use power/ action verbs at the beginning of each bullet follow the bullet formula: power verb + what you did + why / results? ( i.e. developed web application using java and mysql to improve website efficiencies )
a successful resume: well formatted and easy to read profesisonal conveys specific industry knowledge ocuses on the most important information is consistently free of errors
one thing that makes you reject a resume: typos
professional summary: not necessary, worth removing.
cover letters: inform prospective employers on what you can do, why you are interested, and why you are qualified convey your enthusiasm and interest for a specific role and company expand upon the skills and experience listed on your resume your resume is “what you have done” whereas your cover letter conveys “why you did something”
cover letter: heading employer’s contact info introduction body: experience, skills, qualifications, etc closing salutation
2/3 of a page is great. should not be longer than a page
cover letter should at least have one sentence talking about why you are interested in that role / company / position
you can make a base template for cover letters and tweak per position. always make sure to actually change the name of the company you’re applying for, though, cause prof didnt once and whoopsieiies.
Academic Advising Types of advising: traditional advising 30 minute dedicated 1 on 1 session in person or virtual ideal for more in depth planning and questions
group advising: in person session great for meeting your peers
email advising: reserved for students with higher gpas good for students who are comfortable with degree works and independent graduation planning
peer advising: dedicated primarily to freshmen students ( less than 30 earned credits ) 30 minute 1 on 1 session hear from an upperclassman about tips, advice and first year planning.
Advising holds will be placed on student accounts each semester
To clear your advising hold, students must complete one advising interaction each semester
monitor your email for your avidsor’s instructions on scheduling an appointment
to register on time, your hold must be removed BEFORE registration week schedule an appointment through connect after two no shows you cannot make another appointment for 30 days.
To prep for appointment: know the purpose of your appointment: course registration and degree planning exploring a second major or adding a minor academic and personal challenges
Review your academic information: conduct a degree audit to see what rrequirements you still need to complete bring a list o fcourses you want to take next semester create a four year plan and update it during the appointment.

graduation: complete all degree requirements, earn at least 120 credits there are several prerequisite sequences consult with your advisor on your graduation plan always have a backup plan before registration week
degree progress needs to go to 98% for final semester
